Economic Impact Study

The Orange County Business Committee for the Arts’ goal is to stimulate new and increased support from the business community and to provide businesses with the resources and services needed to develop partnerships with the arts. The Economic Impact of the Nonprofit Arts on Orange County is one such resource the OCBCA is making available to both the business and arts communities. This fifth study, reporting on the year 2005, is the result of a continuing collaboration with Chapman University’s A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research and the OCBCA. The study is designed to quantify the aggregate economic impact of the responding institutions. It also tracks the economic trends in the nonprofit arts every four years since the first study was conducted in 1989.

The data collected by the OCBCA would hold little meaning without the benefit of input and analyses by the same outstanding team who have guided all five studies through to completion. It is with deep gratitude that we acknowledge the contributions of Dr. James L. Doti, president of Chapman University, who generously volunteered his time to analyze the findings and serve as director of this economic impact report. We also wish to express our appreciation to Dr. Esmael Adibi, director of the A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research, and his capable staff for their invaluable assistance in producing this latest study.
